Seminyak’s dining options are endless and the list seems to keep on growing every year with celebrity chefs and well known restaurant operators setting up shop in the famous “Eat St’ area.
No expense has been spared in the set up and fit out of these fine dining establishments and the ‘wow factor’ as soon as you enter some of these places is breathtaking. If your looking for those magical rice field views while dining on some sumptuous Indonesian cuisine then Nook is the place to go. It’s located less than 1 km from the very trendy Petitenget area of Seminyak and is easily accessible if you get a taxi. You can be there in less than 10 min – obviously depending on the traffic. Nook is open 7 days for breakfast, lunch and dinner and the time to be there is at sunset time to enjoy what has to be one of the best sunsets in Bali. This is a family friendly restaurant with burgers and pasta served as well. Just imagine dining under the stars right on the rice fields? This is what coming to Bali is all about and it’s worth coming here just for the experience alone.
This is one of Seminyaks most well known high end restaurants and with rice field views and a to die for ambiance, it’s no wonder tourists from all over Bali flock here to sample Indonesian and western delights. The food is totally organic and served fresh from the local farm. Centrally located in Petitenget / Seminyak you should really put this venue high on your dining list. Again, like most of these special restaurants in Bali, you are going to get those fantastic rice field views while sipping on a cocktail or sampling the best nasi goreng in the world.
No list of top restaurants would be complete without the inclusion of one of Bali’s most well known and frequented restaurants. Book well ahead as this place is full most days. Located at the top of Seminyak just before Sunset Rd you will soon see why people come here time and time again. Mama San is a relatively new restaurant and has quickly gained a solid reputation for Asian fusion-inspired cuisine. Make sure you try the dumplings as these are simply divine. The décor as you can imagine is decked out on 1930’s style Chinese furniture and artwork and the place is absolutely buzzing. You will be surprised to know that it’s actually really good value and less expensive as other restaurants of this calibre. So if your craving some Chinese food in Bali make sure you head over to Mama San. After dinner have a stroll around the area as it’s right at the beginning of the main shopping strip running down from Seminyak to Oberoi.
In the heart of the trendy area of Petitenget area, Sarong has a reputation of serving huge portions of Asian and Indonesian dishes with a dash of Indian cuisine. There is something for all pallets at Sarong and patrons can enjoy the humming ambiance of Petitenget while dining on some of the most tasty dishes in all of Bali. The dishes come here very spicy so make sure you ask your waiter to dial down the chillis.
In the heart of Eat St, Biku is an eclectic restaurant that serves high tea as well. Serving Indonesian and comforting home style western food this place is busy most of the time so you will have to make a reservation. The ambiance is traditional Balinese as the place is built in a Javanese style joglo. There are tables inside and outside but once your seated you will notice the eclectic interiors.
This is a great place to take the whole family and seems to be somewhat less pretentious than many restaurants in it’s niche. Portions are large and the kids can have burgers and pizza while the adults can choose from an extensive menu. This is the type of restaurant where you want to come back for a second time – it’s really worth it.
6. La Lucciola.
This is a Seminyak institution and being on the beach makes it one of the most popular high end dining options in Bali. Whenever you utter the words La Lucciola most people have the same response:’ you will have a fabulous meal’. It’s a sophisticated place where you want to spend the whole evening. Start here at sunset to enjoy the views then settle in for a meal of homemade pasta, risotto, and oven-baked fish.
You have to enter La Lucciola through Petitenget temple so this sets the scene for a dramatic entry. You will be eating while listening to the surf in a gorgeous double-storey pavilion with a tropical Balinese alang alang style roof. This is an experience worth doing, if just for the sunset. But take our word for it, you will love the pasta and garlic bread.
This is one of the best Italian restaurants in Seminyak and if your mouth is already watering at the thought of delicious pastas, salads and wines eaten in the trendy area of Oberois famous ‘ Eat St’ then head over here. There is an indoor dining area with an outdoor garden patio setting which is ideal if your looking or a romantic night out. The menu here is extensive and prices are kept low –so go on and enjoy this little gem!
8. Saigon Street
Are you in Bali or Vietnam? You could be forgiven for thinking that you have just entered a restaurant in Saigon when you arrive at this quirky little restaurant located in “Eat St’. Enjoy a hearty Pho or some hand made Vietnamese rolls. All the produce is freshly made on site and is very healthy. The vibe is hp, stylish and very up beat. You will easily spot this place from the neon, colourful lights dangling down at the front of restaurant. It’s quick, cheap and the food is first class. They also have a kiddies menu which is perfect for the whole family. Make sure Saigon Street is on your list.
If you’re an expat you will know about Ryoshi. They all seem to come here and the reason for this is the mouth watering and really fresh Sushi. The cuisine is freshly prepared by trained Japanese chefs who make the best homemade sushi rolls on the island. The vibe is relaxed, un pretentious and as it’s located in Seminyak’s busy Jalan Raya area there is so much to watch as you have your lunch or dinner. Dress down here as is very casual.
10. La Sal
Spice up your holiday with some Spanish inspired dishes with an Argentinian twist. Make your way upstairs and watch the action along Jalan Drupadi( which is the centre of Seminyak) and enjoy a glass of sangria as the night kicks in. Tip: go for the BBQ option which is cooked right at your table. If your into tapas or a tasty seafood paella then La Sal is a must.
Most of these restaurants are seriously very busy so we advice you to get your hotel concierge or if you happen to be staying in a luxury Bali villa speak with your manager to make a booking for you as soon as you arrive. Do not do it on the day.
