Villa Kayu is a lush tropical 4 bedroom Umalas villa holiday rental where you will get lost in antique Javanese charm, with its many traditional Joglo pavilions, sprawling gardens and delightful outdoor setting, combined with all the amenities of modern living for the perfect family getaway. Guests can enjoy the peace and tranquillity of the lush rice terraces of Umalas and still be only a 10 min drive to the centre of exciting Seminyak and vibrant Canggu. The villas four bedrooms will cater to 8 guests comfortably.

Outdoor & Pool Area

The villa’s garden is something else with: soft manicured lawns, huge 28-metre infinity pools edge past calming koi ponds, chic cone-shaped daybeds spread throughout the garden or jump on one of the king-sized timber cushioned pool recliners with the shade provided one of the many traditional Balinese parasols.

Living Areas

At the head of the enormous T-shaped swimming pool upon entry to the complex is the main open-air living pavilion, sitting back here on one of the ottomans and looking at the amazing setting will be an enjoyable way to pass some time. The living spaces are highlighted by a wonderful collection of traditional art pieces, plush textiles, ornaments and artifacts from around the archipelago. A separate Joglo pavilion offers some air-conditioned comfort with a billiards table as well as a cinema room with plenty of space for the whole family to enjoy some downtime together.

4 Large bedrooms

The Master suite offers utmost privacy, tucked away in its own Joglo pavilion featuring antique teak timber flooring with a huge king-sized bed, fine mosquito netting and adds a touch or romance and ensures uninterrupted holiday siestas. The tropical gardened en-suite is quite the novelty with a rain shower and deep soaking tub fashioned from rustic river stone. Two guest suites can be found in one separate Joglo and the third guest suite is in its own private Joglo pavilion. All rooms are equally lavish with king-size beds that can be configured to twin singles and the open-air en-suites boast soaking tubs as well as rain showers.

Staff & Services

The villas staff will meet you upon arrival, cold towels and a cool drink just the thing after a tiring journey to this paradise holiday hideaway. A morning breakfast overlooking the pool each day to get things going followed by a seafood BBQ banquet for lunch and a booking at Metis for dinner, all these such necessities will be handled by diligent and friendly staff.

Around Villa Kayu, Umalas (best location near cafes, day spas and beach)

Umalas is right next to Seminyak and Canggu and it is a very popular area among local ex-pats given its quiet and peacefulness, ease of access to central Seminyak, Canggu and the beach.

Umalas now has many trendy cafes and eating spots dotted through the local rice terraces from healthy breakfast bars to all-day grazing venues such as Nook where there is never any rush other than to enjoy the beautiful views. There are some fabulous cafes nearby where you can get your daily coffee fix and a bite to eat. Head to Monsieur Spoon, the popular Milk and Madu, Bucu, Butterman and 7 AM Bakers Club..

If you want to stock up on your villa supplies there are two supermarkets nearby (Canggu Station & Popular) where you can buy all your fresh food, groceries, snacks for the kids and alcohol.

Travelling with kids? The Finns Recreation Centre is close by so the kids can run wild for hours on the water slides, trampolines and ten-pin bowling; for mum and dad may be the outdoor lap pool, fully equipped gymnasium or a game of tennis is in order. You might also like to take the kids to the popular Wild Ribs restaurant in Batu Belig, pizza at Strawberry Fields or burgers at B52 in Berawa.

The beach is just a few minutes drive at Batu Belig where you can enjoy live DJ’s at 707 sunset bar or maybe something a little more refined at nearby Cafe Del Mar Beach Club. Ladies will love the fact that there are some upmarket day spas close by where you can get your hair and nails done, waxing facials and have a fabulous Balinese massage. Make sure you go to the super-popular Think Pink Nails or Sundari Day Spa in Petitenget. After, make your way to Seminyak’s Eat Street or Jalan Kayu Aya for an afternoons shopping; head to Seminyak Square and go from there.

Make sure you head over to the trendy Berawa area where there are fabulous cafes and restaurants to take the whole family.  For a treat have a few cocktails at the new mega beach club Holywings.
