Bali with kids: check these exciting activities

Looking for fun things to do with the fam in Bali? Mums and Dads don’t stress because the island is full of fun activities and adventures for families to keep the kids happy and very busy.

Get ready, parents, because Bali Villa Escapes has compiled the ultimate list of exciting things to do with kids in Bali. Rain, hail or shine, these family-friendly activities mean there are no nagging & bored kids ruining your much-needed vacay. Take a read, and thank us later…

Holidaying in Bali is a great experience; having your children with you is even better. But we all know that the kids must be entertained and kept happy. They will not want to sit by the pool the whole day and want a bit of adventure and see some of the amazing attractions Bali is famous for.

Following are some fun and exciting things to do with the kids in Bali whilst at the same time not going to bore the pants off the adults. Remember you want to have a bit of a holiday as well. You want to have an enjoyable and memorable experience with the kids. Forget organising the babysitter, don’t stress about keeping the kids entertained; take them to these places, and you will love it as much as them. Enjoy what Bali offers – a great island that makes for a top family holiday.

Monkey Forest Ubud

This is a favourite with families – I would say that the kids have got to be over 5 years of age as there is a bit of walking around. But the Monkey Forest in Ubud is a great day for the whole family. Located in Ubud, the monkeys are cheeky and within the temple grounds. Hold on to everything, as these little buggers will steal anything they can. I know this sounds awful and off-putting, but if you can just appreciate that they are out for anything not bolted to your body, the day out here is great fun. The surroundings are stunning, with old trees and exotic Balinese temples, so you get a real sense of religion in this place.

To keep the kids occupied, buy bags of peanuts and bananas from the local vendors and watch the monkey go crazy. It’s serious entertainment. But, always be very wary that they can bite, so I would advise using a local guide. It’s a cheap day out and is only a 90 min taxi ride from Seminyak / Legian area.

After the monkey forest, take the kids to the Ubud Markets for some shopping.

Amplitude Skate Park

For kids that love skateboarding they’ll go crazy at Amplitude in Kerobokan, Bali. Lots of space where they can expend all their energy and skate for hours on end. You can hire all your gear there so no need to bring a skateboard.

Bali Safari & Marine Park

You and your kids will love this park with all the wild animals, and they will enjoy staying up way past their bedtime to see all the animal activities at night. Once night time descends, you can get a guide to take you around the park where all the action happens. I can guarantee you your kids are going to love this. There are over 60 animals to look at, ranging from Komodo dragons and rhinos to elephants. Whilst there, be the coolest parents and take the kids on an elephant ride.

This is a full-day trip, so make sure you are fully equipped for a full day out – there are restaurants at the park for food, so you do not have to pack that much.  It is a theme park with water slides, rides and many activities to entertain adults and kids fully.

Bali Treetop Adventure Park

Yes, kids can climb ( safely)  among the trees – don’t worry, the heights range from 2m – 20m so that you can choose the comfort level. Enjoy a day out in the Balinese botanical gardens whilst the kids can go crazy climbing the trees in a safe environment. For those kids and parents that are a bit on the adventurous side, there are circuits you can walk around that are all attached with lifeline support. This is guaranteed to keep the kiddies entertained for hours on end. Imagine them running around the trees with their friends, enjoying nature. It’s a great day out in Bali for the whole family. It’s an exhilarating treetop adventure. Your little monkeys are going to go wild swinging in these trees! Plus, they will develop new balance and climbing skills – see the pics below, and you will know what I mean.

For the lovers of water! – Waterbom Bali

No trip to Bali is complete without a must-do family visit to the Waterbom Bali in Kuta. This is a famous and well-known Asia’s # 1 water park. So when it gets too hot, and you want to cool down with the kids, head off to the Waterbom and go crazy.

This is the perfect day out for those parents with still enough energy to handle the slides and keep up with the kids going mental in this place. There is not much more to say about this place except go on, enjoy it and take lots of Instagram and Facebook pics. The park is in Kuta, making it well within a quick taxi ride for most families staying in the nearby hotels or private villas.

Uluwatu Cave Entrance

For a full fun day out with the kids, head to Suluban Beach in Uluwatu and walk down the cave entrance to the water. You can spend a couple of hours tanning when it’s low tide, soaking up the sun while the kids play in the water. There are many places (local warungs) to eat along the pathway down, so you can spend the day here, have lunch, and buy those must-have Bali souvenirs.

Seawalker Tour Sanur

For those who are a bit afraid of snorkelling or scuba diving but still want to see what lies beneath the water, this is the perfect place for you and the kids. You get to see all the wonderful marine, and sea life surrounding the Bali reef from a guided instructor and the best part is you are underwater, breathing oxygen from these fantastic unique diving systems.

You get taken out to the reef, put on one of these fancy diving helmets, and then follow the underwater path – this will blow the kids away.  It’s safe, totally under the instruction of professional divers, and you will not be able to wipe the smile off your children’s faces. Believe me, this is a great way to introduce the family to the marine life of Bali without going through the hassle of a scuba course.

Gallery Trick Art 3d

I know this is somewhat on the tame side and not as adrenaline-pumping as some other activities, but still, this is a great afternoon out with the kids where you can take some great photos and laugh simultaneously.

Over 75 insanely true-to-life paintings make you feel like you are right there in the thick of it – pose with the sharks, waterfalls, and animals – once you are there, the kids and the adults will have a great time.

Parklife Canggu – the ultimate playground for the entire family

We all love Bali! The beach, the pool, the coconuts, mangoes, kid-friendly restaurants and endless fun activities. Even parks are not something you have to miss anymore on your Bali trip. Come to Parklife in Canggu! This new family hot spot is located in a quiet area, just 10 minutes from Batu Bolong Street and surrounded by rice fields. Shopping in Seminyak

Kids generally hate shopping unless it’s for them, and when you are in Seminyak, make sure you go to Seminyak Square, where you can buy all the latest surfwear from names like Billabong and Rip Curl or Vissla. Little pop-up market stalls also sell trinkets, souvenirs, and gifts the kids can buy for their friends back home. Take them for treats at Candylicious at Seminyak Village, where they can stock up on their chocolates and sugar hits to take back to the villa.

Bali Equestrian Centre – Take the kids for a pony ride

Why not take the kid’s horse riding during your island stay? Bali Equestrian Centre is located in Canggu, and kids will love cuddling, grooming, petting and riding the ponies at the stables. Furthermore, this family haven has a playground, restaurant and a pool where you can hang around between the cuddling and the pony rides. The views of the surroundings are also beautiful, and you can go horseriding on the beach or the rice fields. Kids as young as 3 years old can join the fun.

Go dolphin watching in Lovina

Go for a little trip up north, and you can have a magical experience spotting dolphins at sea. Most boats leave at 6 am in the morning, taking you to see the sunrise from a little fisherman’s boat and waiting for the dolphins to appear. There are so many of them, and you can see them jumping in the air and swimming underwater next to your boat. We recommend starting the dolphin boat trip a little bit later, around 7. You still get to see the amazing Bali sunrise, but there will be a lot fewer other boats making this experience even more special. When you get back to the shore, enjoy a delicious breakfast and go stroll around the town or see some more points of interest here in the north, such as the Banyar hot springs or the Secret Garden of Sambangan.
