Holidaying with Kids in Canggu
Canggu is jam-packed full of things to do with the kiddies.
From water slides, surf lessons at Old Man’s, virtual reality centres at the Tamora gallery, ten pin bowling to cafes that have a playground; Canggu is the kids capital of Bali.
When you think of a holiday in Bali, probably your first thought is of backpackers or a romantic couple retreat lying by the pool. But Bali can actually be the perfect place for a family holiday with the kids. In fact, it’s an ideal island where families come back year after year because the kids have so much fun.
If you’re coming to Bali with the kids and want to stay in Canggu there are loads of entertainment options to keep them entertained while the adults can do some of the things they like to do such as relaxing by the pool in their own private Canggu villa, shopping, sightseeing or topping up their tan at the beach.
Don’t think that travelling with the kids has to be stressful either – there are some really great options for family-friendly activities in Canggu.
Canggu is fast becoming one of the most popular places to stay in Bali, with luxurious villas, trendy cafes, bars, yoga studios, gyms, health food organic cafes catering to the health-conscious, restaurants and a relaxed chilled out atmosphere. A selection of our recommendations of what to do to keep your kids busy and happy (a very important factor in a family holiday) can be found below.
What to do with the kids in Canggu
1. Finns Recreation Club
Splash Water Park is located in the Finns Recreation Club and is home to a range of fantastic slides and facilities that will keep the kids entertained for hours. Possibly the thought of a water park sounds hectic and crazy, but Splash is the perfect size for you to be able to keep an eye on the kids whilst you plonk down on a sunbed. There are also trained lifeguards on duty at all times to help keep an eye on things. The Giant Racing Slide should be enough for your little adrenaline junkies. At five storeys high, four lanes across and 90 metres long, this slide even allows you time yourself to see how fast you’ve gone. There is a range of slides for smaller kids, a playground giant swimming pool and even a swinging rope. Best of all, the queues are usually small or non-existent! The Park has a range of food outlets with some healthier options, so staying there all day is easy.

2. Bounce Bali
Also located in the Finns Recreation Club, Bounce Bali is Bali’s first trampoline centre and is dedicated to fun… and wearing out the kids! The trampolines have specially designed spring-loaded frames, so the bounce is higher than on your usual backyard trampoline. Thick safety pads cover all the springs and frames, so you can relax knowing the kids are relatively safe. Catering for all ages, the centre is a great option for a fun day out. Sessions start every hour on the hour, so best to plan your arrival to avoid waiting around. There is a café upstairs though so you can grab a bite to eat.
Strike Ten Pin Bowling
For good old fashioned family fun on rainy days, you can’t beat Ten Pin bowling! Strike is located at the Finns Recreation Club, so again, an easy option for when you’re staying in Canggu. Air-conditioned and with a restaurant and bar, it’s a great option day or night. There are 6 lanes all with automatic pinsetters and computerized scoring. With only 6 lanes though it’s a good idea to book ahead just to avoid disappointment or waiting around (never a good thing with kids in tow). Socks are compulsory but they are available to purchase – as let’s face it, you will probably all be in thongs!
Bali Equestrian Centre
Although this is an elite equestrian centre with state of the art facilities, they do offer pony rides and day camps for the kids or family rides to the beach – so this is a great option for a day out. Not only that, there’s a pool, restaurant and playground for when you get back.
Echo & Old Man’s Beach
Like most family holidays in Bali, you are going to want some beach time and you can get loads of it at Echo Beach. Rent a longboard and paddle out at Old Man’s beach as this is a very gentle wave if you are a beginner surfer.
Fabulous places to eat with the kids in Canggu
These cafes are super family-friendly and have kiddies menus
Milk & Madu
With seriously good coffee (from Revolver) and a menu to match, Milk & Madu is always busy. The open-air concept creates a relaxed, chilled out vibe and the outdoor garden is great for fidgety kids. The menu for kids is excellent and there is a selection of toys for those kids that would rather hang inside.

When there is a menu dedicated to “Little Spouts” you know you’re in the right place. Not only that, right next to Sprout is a purpose-built kids club – The Gardens. This is a casual drop-in centre offering games, arts & crafts, cooking and gardening. A terrific option for your little ones if you would like some grown-up time or just a coffee on your own. The food at Sprout is fantastic, with a focus on fresh, wholesome food and sustainability. Produce is grown in their own garden, which is also used as an educational hands-on venue for the kids.
What kids don’t like burgers and you can get a huge variety of them at the Pit Stop Burger cafe at the top of Jalan Batu Bolong. Freshly cooked, great prices and fast service means your hungry kids are going to be kept happy and fed.
The kids can browse the cool customised collection of motorbikes and pretend they are in the next Grand Prix and also look at the dozens of handcrafted surfboards in the shop while the adults sip on a cafe latte and watch the world go by. Great rice field views and in the centre of the main Canggu shopping and entertainment strip.
A huge shopping area in the heart of Canggu with cafes, restaurants and a relaxed vibe.
The newly completed Tamora Gallery is located along Jalan Pantai Berawa and has cafes, ice cream shops, restaurants that are children friendly such as MissIbu and Shmurger Burger. There is also a children’s playground, mini skate park and a virtual reality centre to keep them occupied for hours. See below to get a better idea of what’s going on at the Tamora Gallery.
