1. Double Six area

The Seminyak Beach stretches from Jalan Double Six where you will find the Cocoon Beach Club and restaurant with an outdoor pool overlooking the ocean and fine dining facilities, well known for excellent seafood. The beach here is wide with a few surf academies’, ideal for the whole family, from beginners to advanced surfers.

The beach here offers plenty of beachfront bars serving icy cold drinks, local cuisines and plenty of sun lounges and umbrellas serviced by local vendors. La Plancha is one of the best known of these beachfront bars, flop into one of the colourful beanbags on the sand and settle in for the afternoon, experience an amazing Bali sunset with your favourite cocktail or maybe a refreshing Bintang.

Zenzi Bar is a popular café, serving great western food, at reasonable prices. For some authentic Indonesian cuisine, Warung Murah is always busy, just a 5min stroll along Jalan Arjuna, heading inland from the beach. The Double Six Hotel has a world-class restaurant, Plantation Bar & Grill; the setting is old-world like something from the Great Gatsby 1920’s movie with mouth-watering steaks, fine wines and Martinis.

 

If you’re in for a holiday workout, head to Seaside Fitness, you can be personally taken care of by the very professional, Bob Breen; also an excellent boxing coach. Bob also conducts fitness boot camps with Australia’s well known Fitness Guru, Shannan Ponton; well known from the Australian reality TV show; “The Biggest Loser”.

For some more great restaurants that won’t break the bank try Ryoshi’s Japanese cuisine, on Jalan Raya Seminyak, Malos serves mouthwatering steaks and German sausages, Marzano offers tasty Italian cuisine and refreshing gelato.

Revolver has become a popular chain of coffee shops, serving high grade, freshly brewed coffee at Sacred Grounds, while the House of Portraits art studio is also a popular coffee house in the Double Six Precinct.

The Bintang Supermarket has everything from fresh produce to imported items, fresh bread, wine and spirits and odd little items that you may have a special need for. You will find many shops selling replica sporting attire, footwear, handmade clothing and an array of homewares traders.

2. Dhyana Pura area

Jalan Dhyana Pura starts from the top end at Jalan Raya Seminyak/ Jalan Camplung Tanduk and ends at the beachfront right in front of the Anantara Hotel to your right and the famous beachfront restaurant; Gado- Gado with fine wines and an international menu.

The street is well known for some popular sports bars/family restaurants including Galaxy Bar if you want to watch live sports and closer to the beach is Lucky Day sports bar with great food and live music in the evenings.

One stretch of this street is home to a row of popular gay bars and clubs with live cabaret shows with drag queens flaunting their dance moves.

La Karma Spa has treatments for the whole family, even the kids as does Spa Bali Dyanapura. Café Kami is a well-priced café, great for breakfast and lunch and if you like Persian cuisine then Passargad is a must-try. There are plenty of local vendor shops selling just about everything and Santa Fe Bar and Restaurant is popular for nighttime entertainment.

For the caffeine addicts there are several good options to get your fix, Uma Kopi is set in a peaceful garden and The Koop specializes in organic, cold-brewed specialties. Café Moka has beautiful homemade cakes and pastries, great coffee and an extensive ala-carte menu. Get your Nakula bowl morning brekky and head upstairs for a great beachfront view at Shelter Café; they have every almond milk, you could imagine.

Made’s Warung is a popular destination to enjoy traditional Indonesian cuisine; Queens Tandoor serves great Indian food while Frankenstein’s Laboratory has an amazing cabaret show the kids will love, with dinner included. For Vegans and vegetarians try Zula Vegetarian Paradise and Tasty Vegan.

At the top end of Jalan Oberoi, you will find a great coffee shop, The Cornerhouse, the street winds its way down to the beachfront at the famed La Lucciola, beachfront restaurant and Seminyak Beach.

This is the most happening strip in Seminyak with a myriad of fine dining and family restaurants, complimented by some of the best boutiques and the central hub of Seminyak Square with a supermarket, cafes, and upstairs, Old Man’s fish and chips and the Adrenalin Sports Bar.

Coffee lovers will be in caffeine heaven, starting with the famous Revolver coffee bar tucked down a quiet lane, Starbucks, Sisterfields and Monsieur Spoon round out the selection of great coffee shops.

Dining options are abundant; Mykonos for authentic Greek flare, Ultimo an Italian icon, Nirwana Sports Bar and Restaurant is perfect for the whole family as is Motel Mexicola with great Mexican food and delicious cocktails. Tiger Palm is the new kid on the block with the highly regarded Will Meyrick at the helm, also the creator of Mama San. Sea Circus is a popular breakfast and lunchtime venue with all-day grazing just a 2-minute walk to La Lucciola and Vin Plus.

4. Petitenget area

The Petitenget district is considered the most sought after Seminyak Postcode. It plays home to the most high-end restaurants, the most popular day and beach clubs and the iconic W Retreat and Spa. The Petitenget Strip starts at the end of Jalan Oberoi (Eat Street) and winds its way to Jalan Batu Belig. The name Petitenget is derived from the centuries-old Hindu Temple; Pura Petitenget in the car park near La Luciola on Petitenget Beach.

Potato Head is arguably the islands busiest and most enjoyed beach club with its huge infinity pool, casual and fine dining options and swim-up pool bar. You have to be early to snap up a poolside daybed and is the venue for International DJ parties. The Woo Bar is a great place for sunset drinks with live DJ’s playing chilled house music. Mrs Sippy is a new day club with a tropical garden setting, a huge free-form pool and a diving tower for the more adventurous!

It might not mean much to most travellers as they are all within walking distance of each other, but making the right choice might just add that bit extra to your fabulous Bali holiday experience.
