Heavy taxes on alcohol in Bali
Before the party starts, do take note that alcohol is something expensive in Bali. How come? Indonesia has set heavy import duties on alcohol (150% on spirits and 90% on wines). Be prepared to pay around AUS $20 for a bottle of local wine such as Hattan, Sababay or Plaga and at least AUS $35 for important international wines. A bottle of imported spirits like Jack Daniels, Bacardi, Absolut Vodka and Jose Cuervo can cost you around AUS $70. Tip of the day: Planning a wedding, party or other events in Bali? Ask your guests to bring a bottle of alcohol to cut back on the costs. One passenger is legally allowed to bring 1 litre of alcohol, duty-free. Everyone happy!
Anyway, let’s get back to the main subject of where to find bottle shops in Bali. You can find a fair selection of wines and spirits at supermarkets like Pepito, Bintang and Carrefour. Buying your alcohol there can be convenient but for the best bottle shop experience, check out these places:
Red & White
Can’t go without a bottle of red or chilled white wine? You need to head over to Red & White in Seminyak. Located at Seminyak Square in Oberoi and at Bali Deli on Jl Kunti, this place to easy to reach from everywhere. Red & White has got a superb selection of local and important wines as well as champagne and more affordable bubbles. They also have an outlet in Sanur. Check it out!
Divine Wine Shop
Staying in Ubud? Head over to Bridges Bali for some delightful wine tasting with canapes and take some time to check out the wine shop, too. get Divine Wine Shop in Ubud has got the largest wine selection on the island with over 350 labels from over 10 grape varieties, These guys know everything there is to know about wine and their wine cellar has always got a perfect 17 degrees Celcius.
Vin+
This winery is located on Jalan Kayu Aya (Eat Street) in Oberoi and might just be the closest one to your Bali Villa. Vin+ is not the cheapest bottle shop around but their 18,000+ selection of wines to choose from makes up for it! Wine lovers will definitely appreciate a bottle shop like this. They’ve got over 250 different types of New and Old World wines and a temperature-controlled wine room. Splendid!
Bottle Avenue
This is only a small liquor shop in Oberoi, just a few doors down from Mexicola. A great place to stop by to grab a quick bottle of your favourite spirit. Bottle Avenue is not only located in Seminyak but also in Sanur, Ubud, Canggu & Pecatu. Handy! They’ve got good promos going on very often.

Winehouse
Winehouse is located on Jl Kerobokan, in between Oberoi and Petitenget. Open from 10 am to 10 pm every day, this bottle shop in Seminyak sells wines from Australia, Europe, South America and more and they’ve got the local brands, too. The best time to come is any time on any Monday – you’ll get a 20% discount. Yay!

Beer & Co
Located in Legian and in Canggu, Beer & Co will thrill all beer lovers. Bintang is great on the beach but at some point, a beer person needs a special crafts beer like Hoegaarden or Erdinger. More of a wine person? Not to worry, they’ve got a good selection of wines and spirits too.
