Berawa Beach Bali, the place to be!

Most people who come to Bali have never heard of Berawa Beach, but it is wedged right between Seminyak and Canggu, which makes it one of the best unknown beaches in the tourist pocket of Southern Bali.

So, for those Bali holidaymakers who tend to just hang in the more popular, well-known beach areas, the team at Bali Villa Escapes thought that we would highlight a few great facts about Berawa Beach and the area surrounding it.

Facts about Berawa Beach

Berawa Beach is generally classified as a beach in Canggu, but it’s the closest beach to Seminyak that has the Canggu vibe. It’s about a 20-minute taxi ride (depending on the traffic) to Berawa, making it an accessible day trip if you happen to be holidaying in one of our Seminyak Villas.

The sand is volcanic dark grey, and it’s a popular choice for intermediate to advanced surfers. The beach is semi-patrolled, but you should be on the lookout for large waves and tidal rips. The surfing crowds here are less competitive than in other areas of Bali, and the laid-back ambience makes it very popular. Swimming is really not ideal here as the waves and currents can get big, so if you feel like swimming, it might be better to head over a little further north to the Old Man’s area in Canggu Central.

One of the standout features at Berawa Beach is the very popular Finns Beach Club

People come here for the day for lunch, dinner a few drinks, people watching and at the end of the day to watch the most amazing sunset. It is a massive tourist hot spot, so if you want to get a prime position by the pool or the beach, you better get here early. Finns Beach Club is what made Berawa famous, so if you happen to be here for the day, make sure you pop in for a drink, especially towards the end of the day, to catch the sunset. It is family-friendly, so you can take the kids.

You can also go to the upmarket Finns VIP Beach Club – which is right next door but a totally new experience as you can see below.

If you fancy a surf but haven’t brought your board, you can easily rent one here for around Rp 600 000 for the day.  If you’re the adventurous type and want to explore the local area, perhaps have lunch at one of the many great cafes in the Berawa, especially Milu By Nook & Milk & Madu.

You’ll find that the area has so much to offer in terms of shopping, eating well, and kids’ entertainment, as the Finns Recreation Club, with its water slides, ten-pin bowling and trampolines, is also close by.

The main shopping and dining area of Berawa is called Jalan Pantai Berawa. It starts at the  Finns Recreation Club and ends at the beach. Along the way, you’ll find shops, cafes, surf shops and restaurants. Some of the best places to eat include the upmarket Italian restaurants Bottega, One Eye Jacks ( for amazing Japanese food), the hipster hang-out Nude and the super popular RUKO.

So, if you feel like escaping the hectic pace set by Seminyak and to a lesser extent Canggu, try spending some time in Berawa, this is definitely the next big thing in Bali!
