1. Milk & Madu
When thinking of kid-friendly places to eat, drink and hang out in Canggu, Milk & Madu is one of the first cafes to pop up in your mind. Google ‘family cafes in Bali’, and you will find Milk & Madu. What is it that they do so very right? How come it is always packed? Perhaps the on-site playground has something to do with it, but there is more to love about this place! Whether or not you came with the kids, you will never get enough of the hand-crafted ice teas (try passion fruit!), the juices, the delicious coffee, the salads and the home-baked cakes and pies. Yes, they got us hooked! Come in here, let the kids get creative under the guidance of the loving staff (on the weekends) and try out numerous things on the menu. 2. Milu by Nook
Surely, you’ve already heard about Nook over in Umalas. Well, Milu by Nook has the same gorgeous rice paddy views, the same delicious food (and a great variety) and dedicated staff to complete the experience. Ethnic artwork and tropical chic interiors ruled by bamboo, wood and rattan – Milu by Nook is a great spot for a family lunch (on the way from your private villa to Berawa Beach, perhaps). Sit down on comfortable sofas and armchairs overlooking the paddy fields. Milu by Nook features an open kitchen where all the food, juices and coconuts are prepared freshly.

3. Finn’s Beach Club
The ultimate beachfront hang-out in Canggu: Finn’s! Take the family and you’re in for a full day of family fun, guaranteed! This fabulous beach clubs in Berawa has got a fantastic beachfront infinity pool with ‘lounge islands’ IN the pool. Finns call it the ‘family-friendly gazebo pool’ (just one of the many pools at this sensational beach club!). Entrance is free but there is a minimum spending fee on the day beds. Don’t forget to check out Finns’ Recreation Club, as well – the kids always love a waterpark, don’t they?! Further, Finn’s Recreation Club boasts a trampoline centre, kids club, tennis court, bowling alley and more – something for the entire family.
4. Bottega Italiana
Bottega Italiana is the little sister of Zibiru Restaurant in Seminyak, famous for authentic Italian cuisine, home-baked bread, handmade pasta, Italian coffee, paninis and salads. What do all kids love? That’s right: pasta! Well, you came to the right place! Bottega Italiana has indoor and outdoor seating areas, smiley staff and a bar with stools where you can see how the pasta and bread are made. All the ingredients are fresh from the land (farm-to-table concept) or when needed, imported from Italy. A great eat for families with hungry kids (and parents in need of good coffee!).
5, Made’s Warung Berawa
Formally known as ‘The Joglo’, Made’s Warung has made its way to Canggu. Another definite favourite hang-out spot for families, Made’s Warung Berawa boasts a large, shady outdoor playground with a slide, swings, trampoline, sandpit and toys. The restaurant is tucked in an authentic Javanese ‘Joglo’ house with a high-pitched wooden-carved ceiling. The food is traditional Indonesian and family-friendly. Sit down for a traditional ‘Rijsttafel’ where you can taste a little bit of everything or come for a smoothie bowl and coffee in the morning. One thing is for sure: the kids will love it here (you’ll be dragging them out!).
