If you’re into cocktails (and Mexican food!), you’ll love the margaritas at Lacalita Bar y Cocina. Sitting on the trendy Batu Bolong Strip in Canggu, you just can’t skip it, even if it’s just to get your taste of the jalapeno-infused tequila. The happiest hours of the day are between 5 pm and 7 pm from Monday to Saturday. On Sundays, it is time for bloody marys. You can 2 for 1 all day long until 7 pm.

This New York-style underground bar has leather sofas, dimmed light, a billiard table and quality cocktails. They’ve got cool DJs coming in and its a great place to come and party. Don’t worry about the heat, this underground bar is fully air-conditioned.

Exquisite hand-crafted cocktails (the best you can get!) and magnificent sunset views, Ji Terrace by the Sea boasts 180-degree views of Canggu Beach and the food is extremely good. In case you are wondering, Ji Terrace by the Sea is part of Hotel Tugu and it is a high-end choice to go for sunset drinks but it is a must! If you’re planning to dine here as well (and you should at least once!), go on a Thursday to witness a traditional Balinese dance and music performance. It’s a complimentary treat, thrilling not just your taste buds but all of your senses.

Oh wow, what a gorgeous Mediterranean-inspired restaurant this is with delicious tapas and fabulous cocktails. This place only opened only recently but it is already a Canggu hot spot. Indoor palms, vintage interiors, bohemian fabrics and great sharing menus, there are many Instagram-worthy cafes around in Canggu and this is yet another one not to miss. Penny Lane is famous for the big portions of food as well, and some folks go crazy for their mega burger.

Had enough of Bintang? It may sound strange to many Bali holidayers, but when you are a true beer lover, you know there are so many much better beers out there in the world. Black Sand Brewery is one of the first to bring properly-brewed handcrafted beers to Bali. They even have their own IPA. Yum! (hmm, guess there is no hiding I’m into craft beers. It’s something inevitable when growing up close to the Belgium border :)). Black Sand Brewery is a fabulous beer garden with a Balinese vibe going on and fabulous rice fields views. Oh, and the food is delicious, too, with a great selection of shared plates.

Black Cat Mini Mart

Perfectly grungy and dark, Black Car Mini Mart is the place to go for dancing and drinking with friends. Cool crowds, always energetic, live DJs, strong mixed drinks, this is a great little place to get lost! There is a billiard table for the early hours of the evening. Later on, the pool table transforms into a dance floor. Black Cat Mini Mart also has open mic nights and funky disco evenings.

An icon in Canggu, Deus Ex Machina is a cafe, vintage motorbike garage, art gallery, cafe and nightlife hot spot all in one go. Nicknamed as ‘the temple of enthusiasm, Deus Ex Machina is one of the coolest hangout places near the buzzing Batu Bolong Street and Echo Beach in Canggu. Surf dudes, motorbike fanatics, coffee lovers and nightlife seekers, everybody loves Deus Ex Machina and they’ve got cool rock bands playing their live sets on the weekend.

Trendy, hipster and happening, The Lawn boasts a fabulous beachfront location with the most magical sunset views. Soak in the infinity pool, sip your sunset cocktails and relax on a beanbag on the lawn while gazing at the sunburst sky. DJs keep the good vibes going, there are live bands playing on the weekend and the food is also of outstanding quality. Stick around for the party after sunset.

La Brisa

Perfectly boho-chic and absolutely charming, La Brisa is a beach club like no other and it is part of the same family as La Plancha, La Finca and La Favela, known as ‘La Familia’. This popular surf bar and beer garden attract a mix of crowds and it’s a great place to mingle and make new friends. In the daytime, Old Man’s is open for drinks, food and laid-back vibes after the surf. In the evening, this is a place to dance and party hard. You can expect through-the-roof live bands, DJs, beer pong and cool themed parties. Old Man’s as at 5th August 2022 is closed.

The hottest beach club in Canggu and the hippest place for sunset drinks, Finn’s Beach Club boasts 4 swimming pools and 9 bars of which 2 are swim-up bars. There are 5 fantastic restaurants and the location is superb in Berawa, Close to Seminyak and just a short drive from Echo Beach and Batu Bolong. 180-degrees ocean views, DJs and live music, this beach club is tucked in a gorgeous bamboo structure. Pretty Poison is a skateboard ramp and a bar. This place has an arty Californian vibe and it is packed with a good mix of locals, young travellers and backpackers. They have open-mic nights, movie nights and spectacular skateboard shows. The skate nights are on Thursdays and Saturdays and they are definitely the busiest.
