If you’re wanting to do some shopping then one of the best places to grab a bargain is in the Kartika Plaza area in Kuta. It’s about a 25 minute taxi ride from Seminyak ( depending on traffic) and 45 mins from Canggu. At Kartika Plaza you’ll find lots of shops selling surf wear, shoes, women’s boutiques, sun glasses shops and there’s the huge Matahari Shopping Centre which is jam packed with clothes & souvenirs. Close by is also the Lippo Mall & Discovery Mall Shopping Centre which is a shoppers paradise. Opposite this, is the Waterbom Bali ( Asia’spremier water theme park ) where you can drop the kids off for the day while you do some shopping.

If you’re with the kids there’s a Mc Donalds and KFC here to keep them happy. There’s even a Hard Rock Cafe less than a 5 minute walk away opposite the beach where you can take thewhole family for a meal.

There are also lots of local vendors selling the usual Bali souvenirs like wood carvings, sorongs and that must have Bintang t-shirt! You will need a full day here to explore all the side alley ways and local shops that seem to be around every corner you look. It’s so fun to just keep walking and explore all the ‘angs’ or alleyways.

There are also lots of places to stop for lunch or a later afternoon meal if you get hungry. We recommend the Matilda Sports Bar which is about a 5 min walk from the Plaza and the gateway to a whole other area of Kuta where you can do even more damage to your credit card and fine tune your bargaining skills. Why not make a day of it and stay for sunset drinks on Kuta beach!

If you’re staying in a holiday villa in Legian, Seminyak or Canggu just ask your villa manager to organise transport to get you to Kartika Plaza. Getting back to the villa is also super easy as there are loads of taxis in the area and the cost would be no more than AUD $20 each way. Not bad value if you’re in a group.
