2 Yoga Studios in Canggu Bali – worth visiting
Mystical Ubud with its lush tropical mountain ranges, ancient temples and gorgeous rice fields has long been home to the Yoga experience in Bali.
However, with the development of Canggu along with its hip residents, cafes and equally hip holidaymakers, the Yogi scene has experienced a monumental shift as it is uprooted from its traditional home in the hills to take up residency on the shores of happening Canggu.
So you’ve checked into your Canggu villa accommodation, freshened up and you’re ready to check out the beach, cafes and of course your favourite yoga place. There are a host of new and established yoga places that have sprung up as Canggu has cemented its image as a cool, hip and everything in between.
The Practice Yoga Studio
One of the newest yoga studios in Canggu, The Practice is located just along Batu Bolong; a short distance from Old Man’s and the beach and no doubt ‘The Practice’ has helped to bolster the yoga scene in Canggu since its inception.
The vision to teach and train yogis in the purest and original forms of yoga combined with two fantastic studios; Shala Shita & Shala Rama, housed within an amazing bamboo structure cooled by ceiling fans is a fantastic experience.
At The Practice Yoga Studio, the staff goes out of their way to make sure beginners feel welcome with introductory classes to focus on ‘Hatha Yoga’ where you will learn the important basics including postures, breathing and meditation. For those who may consider themselves intermediates on their yoga journey, the experienced teachers will guide you beyond ‘Asana’ and into the higher realms of Tantric practices like ‘Bandha’, ‘Mudra’ and ‘Kriya’.
You’re bound to find The Practice easily as it’s conveniently located in the shopping district of Canggu. Those staying at a villa nearby can easily get there by taxi or a scooter ( which is probably easier). There are daily yoga classes and as you can see from the video they are even open on Christmas day which was a real bonus to get in some stretching before a huge lunch. In terms of booking it’s pretty casual so all you have to do is note the times and come say 20 minutes earlier and pay at the desk.
Address: Jl. Pantai Batu Bolong No.94, Canggu, Kuta Utara, Kabupaten Badung, Bali.

Serenity Yoga (Samadi)
This is a holiday home that has been transformed providing accommodation for yogis, just 150 meters from Echo Beach making this a desirable spot to find your inner peace. It’s got a very laid back, almost ‘hippie’ vibe that seems a far cry from the very trendy The Practice – you can see a huge difference between the 2 studios. Address: Jl. Padang Linjong No.39, Canggu, Kuta Utara, Kabupaten Badung, Bali
After hours, sweating it out on the yoga mat, you’re sure to have a thirst and a few tummy rumbles that need to be satisfied so we recommend you head to Matcha Café, with their specialty; the Matcha organic, green tea-based desserts and beverages.
Head to Samadi Yoga and straight for the “Kitchen Lab & Café” where organic vegetarian food is all the rave. Here the theory of healing your body with natural food and seasonal organic ingredients is the only way. “The Savage Kitchen” won’t leave you hungry, their health-driven inspired menu will satisfy your taste buds from morning until night. For those really ‘in the scene’ yogis “The Crate” always seems to be busy; their baristas are second-to-none with amazing skill in delivering the best coffees on the island and healthy juices for any ailment.
