Why Bali is Still The Perfect Getaway

Despite all the recent bad publicity around Bali, such as the volcanic activity, Bali still remains the ‘go to’ destination for so many Australians and travellers from around the world, whether they be; families, individuals, couples, honeymooners, corporate events or groups.

At Bali Villa Escapes, we have not seen any drop off in bookings; in fact, we have seen villa inquiries increase by well over 50% in the last 3 months, despite all the negative PR and news surrounding this tropical paradise.

People still flock to this place and they do it in large numbers.

So, I thought I would write a blog to remind everyone reading this why Bali is such a magical, wonderful, adventure-packed, romantic and desirable destination for so many holidaymakers that keep them coming back to Bali year after year.

Why do Australian’s still love Bali?

The Culture

What can I say except this place has some serious culture overload? It’s jammed packed full of ceremonies, religious statues, temples and offerings, the list goes on and on. It’s a full sensory overload and if you are into witnessing a new culture, then Bali is not going to disappoint. You literally can’t go anywhere without a religious event or ceremony happening right in front of you. Just look at the way the locals spend their time making all those wonderful offerings to their Gods.

The People

Balinese people are ridiculously friendly and happy. They are welcoming, helpful, warm, sensitive and genuinely glad to see you. To me, this is the common thread that makes the whole Balinese experience so exceptional.

The people add so much to this place. No, I said that wrong, the people compliment this place and with the beauty of the Island, the natural surroundings combined with the openness of the people make this place the best tourist destination in the world. I know I am biased when I say this, but after travelling the world extensively, and seeing so many different places, people and cultures, I always compare it to Bali and they come nowhere near it.

The Surf

If you are into adrenalin sports such as surfing then without going into too much detail, Bali has it all for every surfer at every level. From the professional right through to the beginner, Bali’s waves are world-class. Places such as Uluwatu, Bingin, Nusa Dua, Canggu, Keramas & Padang Padang are famous.

The Proximity to Australia: At most you are only flying 6 hours to get to Bali. It’s not a long plane flight and you can leave Australia in the morning and be swimming in your Villa by the afternoon. For such a diverse culture, this is really very close to Sydney, Perth, Brisbane & Melbourne. Also, there’s hardly any jet lag as the time difference is at most 3 hours.

The Food. Nasi Goreng Special please with an egg on top. Bali has great local food. From mild to spicy, these exotic flavours are a culinary dream. It’s best to experience these at local Balinese warungs where you can sample dishes that are jammed packed full of flavour. Indonesian food can take a bit of getting used to for some Westerners, but once you become accustomed to the chilli and spices you are going to be a huge fan!

Balinese food is a favourite

Enjoy Balinese food especially the Nasi Campur

The Landscape

Bali’s landscape has a piece of everything, from lush mountains, stunning beaches and everything in between. You can be enjoying a stroll through the central mountain artist district of Ubud in the morning, and enjoying a cold beverage in the afternoon by one of Bali’s best beaches.

Great Value: Where else can you get a 3-course meal for 2 people under $25. Where else can you get great shopping, great bargains and great food all at rates that you could never get back home in Australia? It’s really cheap! Having said that, if you want to splurge and spend big, you can. But, there is still great value for money when you do.

The Shopping

Bali has great shopping. You can spend your entire time shopping in Seminyak’s trendy upmarket boutiques or stroll around the gift shops in Ubud. There is no shortage of shopping. In fact, you will have to drag yourself away from it. There are so many shops it’s a wonder how they all cram them into the island. Plus there are new shopping malls in Kuta ( Kuta Beachwalk) and in Seminyak to add another layer to the shopping experience. All the big-name brands are here as well as some local Balinese ones. You can now also add shopping in Canggu to the list as this is now the ‘on place’ to shop. Head to the Berawa area and make your way to Jalan Batu Bolong in Canggu for a huge choice of shops.

The Nightlife

If you are into partying then Bali is the answer. For those 20 somethings wanting to party the night away right through to those of us that want a more sophisticated nighttime experience, Bali has it all.

The Upmarket Restaurants

5-star high-end dining can be found all over Bali, especially in the Seminyak, Oberoi and Petitenget area. Think Ku De Ta, Mama San, Potato Head, Sardine, Cafe Del Mar, Metis and more.

The Massages

Having a traditional Balinese massage is a wonderful experience. You can get probably one of the best massages of your life for less than $10 per hour. Not only is it great value, but you will come out of it feeling relaxed and rejuvenated.

The Seriously Indulgent Villa Accommodation

Bali has something for everyone’s tastes, budget and area in mind.  There is an enormous range of private villas, world-class hotels and everything else in between. For those of you wanting to experience something incredible why not stay in a villa instead of a hotel. Bali has without doubt some of the most gorgeous, architecturally designed villas in the world and the best news is….. they are available for holiday rentals. All of them have private pools and if you search online you can be lucky enough to find a villa with your own butler, chef and concierge.

It’s very family-friendly

Bali is the ideal destination if you travelling with children. Not only can you take them to the beach but there are loads of fun parks and fun things to do to keep them entertained. Also, it works out a whole lot cheaper than taking them on a holiday in Australia. Everything in Bali is so much cheaper than back home ( food, babysitters, nannies, accommodation, tours, gifts, car hire) that you will find that you end up saving money. As an example just compare how much it would cost to take the average family of 5 out for dinner in Australia and compare it to the cost in Bali. It’s almost half. The same goes with accommodation and most other forms of entertainment.

So, what are you waiting for? Get over to Bali and experience all these wonderful things.
