Kim Soo in Seminyak, a fabulous cafe
An oasis on the outskirts of Seminyak, as you enter the trendy Petitenget, you’ll find the lovely Kim Soo Cafe in an old Dutch-style colonial building that simply adds to the ambience. Here at Kim Soo, you’ll feel immediately calmer with the white-washed walls and comfy seating. But wait, there’s more: a full homewares store inside where you can browse gifts to take back home. And this homewares store is not your typical store. It really sells upmarket, stylish products and is different from the usual Bali-style souvenirs. Make sure you take a look; you will be pleasantly surprised. Expect fashion items, books, sarongs, clothing, pillows, tablecloths, cooking utensils, boho attire and so much more. There’s a real eclectic mix with something for everyone.
Everyone comes to Kim Soo not just for the homewares but also for the food. It’s more of a brunch/lunch or late afternoon pick-me-up coffee venue with great food like ricotta hotcakes, fruit bowls, salads, burgers, fish and chips, and lots of healthy juices, teas, cakes, and coffees. There’s also a selection (though not extensive) of wines and beers, and try their Summer Spritz for late-arvo cocktails.
When you’re at Kim Soo, you almost feel like you’re in a Moroccan homestay. The place is dotted with colourful tiles, rugs, and furnishings, making for a welcomed pace change from hectic Seminyak.
I’m not saying that Kim Soo is not family-friendly, but it has more of a grown-up vibe, which suits the glam crowd perfectly. Many big hotels, Seminyak holiday villas and homes are nearby, which attract an upmarket crowd.
So next time you are in Seminyak for the day or are holidaying in Seminyak, pop into Kim Soo for a quick meal and delight in this beautiful little cafe.
