Canggu is in many ways the new Seminyak with its beach clubs, Cafe Del Mar and Finns Beach Clubs, and let’s not forget The Lawn and Old Man’s for sunset drinks and plenty of fun late into the evening.

The good thing is Seminyak is close by scooter, taxi, car or even walk along the beach from Batu Belig Beach to all the Seminyak Beach Clubs, bars and restaurants such as Ku De Ta, Mano Beach House, Potato Head, Mrs Sippy and the  WooBar.

Travelling with children? Taking them to the Finns Recreation Club will keep them occupied for hours, with indoor trampolines, tennis courts, a water theme park and even ten-pin bowling. They might also like a surf lesson at Old Man’s Beach, which is great for beginners. You can hire boards and instructors here by the hour. Culturally, you can take them to Ubud’s popular Monkey Forest Temple for a fun day out or watch the sunset at Tanah Lot Temple. For dinner, try Warung Mades for an authentic Indonesian meal, One-Eyed Jacks for great Japanese, ribs at Wild Hog or BB52, and Burgreens or Wacko for burgers.

Cafes & restaurants. If you love your coffee, you are in luck, as there are some great cafes nearby where you can also take the kids for a bite to eat.   Head to the super-popular Milk & Madu (with a children’s playground area), Hungry Bird,  Bokashi, Secret Spot, Pels Supershop, Milu by Nook and Folie, BAKED or Nourish for great pastries.

Day Spas. For the ladies, there are loads of upmarket day spas nearby where you can get your hair and nails done, plus have one of those dreamy Balinese massages. Some of the best day spas nearby are Think Pink Nails in Batu Belig, Rob Peetoom or Sundari Day Spa in Petitenget and JAMU on Jl Pantai Berawa.

Shopping. Follow this up with an afternoon shopping in Seminyak’s popular Oberoi area, where you can browse art galleries, homewares & jewellery shops. For more shopping options, you can go to Seminyak Village (2.2 km away) or hop into a Blue Bird taxi and head into Kuta’s Kartika Plaza area, where you’ll find the Lippo & Discovery Shopping Mall.
