Where to Eat with Kids in Seminyak
The best part of a holiday is (for mum anyway) not having to cook. When you’re staying in a villa in Seminyak quite possibly you will have a chef in the house but eating out with the family is always a nice change.
When you’re out and about shopping with the kids or just walking around Seminyak taking in the sights this handy list gives you some of our fav restaurants where you don’t have to dress up, are affordable and super family-friendly.
Seminyak is well known for its restaurants and food scene and some really high-end options (keep that in mind for a date night!).
The main street, Jalan Kayu Aya is known as “Eat Street” and is filled with restaurants, some exceptional cafes that are also child-friendly and fast food places to fill those hungry little appetites.
We’ve put together a list of some great places to take the kids in and around Seminyak where they will be welcomed and more importantly, you can relax. Most of the villas are really close by to these places so all you have to do is take the kids and walk around. If you get lost there are always friendly locals who will be able to point you in the right direction.
This place is an institution and probably the best-known restaurant in Seminyak. Burgers, pizzas, salads, wraps, juices, you name it they have it. It’s packed with a great vibe which makes this a very family-friendly restaurant. Loved by ex-pats and most tourists visiting Seminyak. This should definitely be high on your priority list of places to take the kids.
2. Kilo Bali
Kilo Bali has a sleek and modern interior with Asian fusion food and a kids menu with some tasty options. Booking is probably a good idea to ensure a table unless you’re there early. Kilo presents a range of signature dishes with a focus on seafood such as the Wasabi Tuna Tartare and Soft Shell Crab. There’s also an exceptionally tasty rib dish which will definitely be a hit with the kids.
3. Italian Corner
Hard to go wrong with pizza and kids. Great pizza and friendly staff make this a winner all around. A cosy sized restaurant in a quiet side street – you can always opt for takeaway if you can’t get a table, or book to ensure you do. The pizzas are true Italian style with thin crusts and minimal toppings.
4. Grain Espresso
Grain Espresso is a café with a bistro-style menu and custom blend coffee, open for breakfast lunch or dinner. The kid’s menu isn’t extensive but there is variety in the overall menu with both European and Indonesian dishes on offer so sure to be some options.
5. The Cornerhouse in Seminyak
Has the wow factor but serves great food for the whole family. Centrally located right in the beginning of Eat St. One of the first high-end family-style restaurants that deserve a pop in.
6. Wacko Burger Café
A relaxed and friendly semi-open-air burger joint. Wacko bake their own buns on a daily basis and make their own mayonnaise and sauces. As well as burgers the menu includes fish and chips, hot dogs, spag bol and steaks, all with the obligatory chips and onion rings. Match these with a decadent milkshake creation and the family will be pretty full.
7. Happy Chappy’s
Outstanding Chinese food in a stylish, upmarket setting. Sunday Yum Cha is a fun option for kids and the food is fresh and tasty. With friendly and attentive service, Happy Chappy is a great family option.
8. Taco Casa
Mexican food is always a hit with kids, and Taco Casa serves up tortillas that are handmade with fresh ingredients (and no MSG!). The staff are friendly and the service is quick. And with margaritas for mum & dad to relax with it, it’s hard to beat.
9. Made’s Warung
A fantastic traditional Balinese restaurant complete with Balinese dancers, this place is an institution. It is set up for tourists though, offering a western menu as well – which is great for pickier eaters. Friendly staff and a fun atmosphere make this a great place to introduce Balinese food to the kids and have a relaxed family dinner.
10. Ku De Ta
You might be forgiven for thinking that Ku De Ta is strictly for the adults but on Sunday between 11 am and 3 pm the crew at Ku De Ta have a ‘Family Dayze’ where the kids are welcome and they can enjoy a bouncing castle and a craft tent. Food is a snack type that the kids will enjoy.
11. Motel Mexicola in Seminyak
The kids will enjoy the tacos and burritos here and the fun themed Mexican style restaurant. They can run around in the courtyard and let off some steam while the adults knock back a few margaritas. In right in the heart of Seminyak so getting there should be a short 10-minute taxi ride from most villas.
12. The Lawn in Batu Bolong
Take the kids to Batu Bolong which is really the next suburb from Seminyak and enjoy a picnic or sunset early meal by the ocean on a grass lawn; hence the name. There are hammocks, large cushions and bean bags for the whole family to relax and chill out. If you want a quick swim to cool down, then the beach is right there. Food is really easy going and unpretentious with a wide variety of snacks and popcorn for the kids to enjoy. This is really a great day out but I would say best come around 2-3 pm when it’s getting later in the afternoon and less hot.
13. Man Frydays Fish and Chip Shop
In the heart of Seminyak, actually, it’s at Seminyak Square so you’re not going to find a more central area is the famous fish and chip shop Man Fridays. After exploring the area why not pop in for some typical British style home and very ‘moorish’ fish n chips. It’s really popular and well worth coming in to keep the kids happy. There are also burgers and Indian dishes.
14. Hanks Pizza Seminyak
Relaxing and fun place to take the kids out for a meal in Seminyak. This is arguably the best pizza in southern Bali and the atmosphere is really cool as well. Located right near Seminyak Square on Jalan Kayu Aya this is the go-to pizzeria for those that want the best toppings on their large family size pizza. Kids will love it here.
15. Johnny Rockets
American themed hamburger joint is strictly for the kids. On Eat Street with stand out signage makes this restaurant hard to miss. Kids will love the relaxed vibe and the fast-food style. There are shakes, burgers, salads, fries and hot dogs. Afterwards, treat them to some lollies at Candylicious at Seminyak Village.
