Outdoor & Pool Areas
The villa’s pavilions are spread out through an amazing tropical garden with manicured lawns, mature palms and frangipanis and calming koi ponds playing a relaxing melody. There is a stunning lap pool of 20 metres with natural stone and quaint Buddha statues lining its edge, as well as 6 king-sized reclining sunbeds with thick, comfy cushions that are perfect by the pool. A second pool, 7 meters in length and just 30cm in depth is ideal for children and offers plenty of shade in the mornings and afternoons. An amazing Joglo-styled antique bale with its shingled roof sits at one end of the pool, a host of daybeds with loads of comfy cushions to relax in the shade.
Living Areas
The living areas are housed in a series of stand-alone antique Joglo pavilions with beautifully hand-carved ceilings and timberwork, decorated by a vast array of wonderful Asian antiquities from around the Archipelago and a mild French element. The open-air living and entertainment pavilions are set side by side with a fabulous, fully equipped kitchen. One level down is the main dining pavilion; designer lampshades illuminate the huge rustic dining table for 14 guests. The entertainment pavilion has a well-stocked bar, a deep, comfy lounge, and a Sonos speaker system with a projector to watch movies; there is also a private massage room.

The villa’s Master Suite is housed in a stand-alone Joglo pavilion with a private terrace; fully air-conditioned, the earthly teak timbers make the room cozy with a king-sized bed and flat-screen TV. The en-suite has a huge stone soaking tub, monsoon shower and twin hand-carved stone vanities. Four more traditional Indonesian pavilions are known as Gladaks, house the four remaining king-sized guest suites. Spread throughout the garden, it offers maximum privacy, private verandahs, ceiling fans, air-con, walk-in robes, and private en-suites with lovely stone bathtubs and rain showers in tropical gardens.

Villa Zelie is located just 150 metres from the water at Kayu Putih Beach, also home to the new mega beach club Cafe Del Mar with excellent food; a little further along is Finn’s Beach Club and the Rip Curl School of Surf for kids and adults alike. Berawa, Old Man’s, Echo and Batu Belig beaches are all close by, which offers surfers a great choice and a variety of great waves – perfect for those early morning surf sessions.
Beach Clubs. You can walk to 707 Beach Bern at Batu Belig Beach and listen to the live DJ while you have a few sunset cocktails or cold Bintangs. The newly built and fabulous Atlas Beach Fest Beach Club in Berawa is also nearby. For a treat, go to Cafe Del Mar for sunset cocktails, chilled music, a few cold Bintang and a meal as you watch the best sunset in Bali. This is where everyone goes, and the atmosphere is amazing. Other beach clubs worth visiting nearby include the iconic KU DE TA, Mari Beach House, Mrs Sippy & Potato Head.
Travelling with kids? Take them for a surf lesson at Old Man’s Beach (you can hire boards & instructors) or perhaps a day out at the Finns Recreation Club with water slides, ten-pin bowling, and a massive indoor trampoline centre called Bounce. For a cultural experience, take them on a day trip to Ubud’s popular Monkey Forest Temple or perhaps the holy Hindu Tanah Lot Temple. For dinner, take the kids to Wild Hog for the best ribs in Canggu or perhaps treat the whole family to a meal at the popular Watercress for a traditional Indonesian meal; you can’t go past the famous Mades Warung. If they want burgers, BB52, BossMan, or Grill’d is in Seminyak.
Cafes. There are lots of great cafes near the villa where you can get your daily coffee fix and a bite to eat. Make sure you go to Milk and Madu (they have a kiddie’s playground), Pels, Folie, Hungry Bird and the popular Milu by Nook. Great bakeries nearby include Butterman, 7 AM Bakers Club, BAKED and Livingstones.
Day Spas. Ladies, there are many upmarket day spas nearby to get your hair and nails done and have a Bali massage; for the best treatments, go to the iconic Think Pink Nails or Sundari Day Spa and Rob Peetoom in Petitenget.
Shopping. Follow this up with an afternoon shopping in Seminyak’s chic Oberoi area, where you can browse art galleries, jewellery & homewares stores. For more shopping options, hop into a Blue Bird taxi and go to the Kartika Plaza area in Kuta, where you’ll find the Lippo & Discovery Shopping Mall. I went with my family and parents for a week here at Villa Zelie - this was a dream holiday in a perfect setting. You feel so calming relaxed as soon as you enter the villa gates. Professional staff are there the whole time take care of you which means al you have to do is enjoy the place. The room were so comfy which was important as my parents needed this. Plus the ensuite were also lovely
Getting around was really easy as there we always taxis and Seminyak central was only 10 minutes away. Loved the place and I am more than happy to recommend it.

We have just come back from a 10 days stay at the lovely Villa Zelie, and I was really keen to write this favourable review. All I can say is that I have not stopped talking about this villa and raving on about this to my friends.
If you want a traditional and authentic Balinese villa experience, this is the perfect choice!! From day 1 when we were picked up at the airport and saw the villa we felt immediately at home by the staff. Maybe it was the way they greeted us each day or their friendly smiles.
Either way, we loved the whole ambiance of the place. In terms of location we were at Baut Belig which is kind of half way between Seminyak & Canggu so we really had the best that each area offered. I can't wait to come back here next year and do it all again.

Just returned from 10 days at Villa Zelie. A dream villa to say the least:) Loved the way the lights lit the whole place up at night and Gunung our villa manager was the best by far. His service and experience was far better than you would get in a 6 star resort.
He was there when we needed him and he was happy to organise dinner reservations and tours around the island, like when we went to Ubud one day. If we needed food for the fridge he would get one of the team to do some shopping for us at the Canggu station deli which was close by.
Our family absolutely loved it here:)) We were so sad to leave but the good news is we will come back next year and I bet they will remember our names.

Comfortable and beautiful villa with exceptional service
We were a large group (9 adults +6 kids) and finding something that ticked all our boxes wasn't easy. Villa Zelie was the closest we could find and we certainly weren't disappointed.

The service from the team onsite was incredibly attentive without being intrusive - with special kudos to our butler, who never left our glasses empty. The meals we were cooked were all large and delicious.
Location-wise we were very happy. It was a 100m to the beach and, from there, a short walk in either direction gets you to happening beach clubs and bars, such as Potato Head and Finns. However, they're just far enough away not to trouble you with loud music.
The one major downside was the mosquito population. I think that perhaps the villa could have done more to keep their numbers down. We all got bitten... A LOT. And yeah, if you're after modern luxury this isn't the choice for you, this is a local Balinese style villa with a rustic feel.
Pretty much everybody in our group plans to come back to Villa Zelie again in the future.
