1. Warung Dua
A total favourite among ex-pats living in this area of Bali, Warung Dua is always busy, and yet the vibe remains easygoing and relaxed. Fruits, rice, veggies (lots!), meat dishes, fish, all authentic Indonesian and very much delicious. The staff is welcoming, and within a 2-minute scooter drive, you will find yourself in Berawa or in the centre of Seminyak. Warung Dua is a great pit stop in Umalas – no matter what you are looking for (yes, they also serve home-baked cakes if it’s too early for your daily plate of mixed rice (nasi campur).

2. Bucu
Bucu is every parent’s dream brought to life: a lovely and breezy cafe with plenty of sitting spots and a large kids’ playground downstairs (including an inflatable water castle when the sun is out). This family-friendly cafe and restaurant are open for breakfast and lunch (so don’t bother coming down here for dinner – the place closes at 6 pm).

No longer a secret, Nook is probably the most famous rice paddy restaurant in Bali yet still, the prices are very reasonable. 5. Dedar Bali
Dedar Bali is a hidden gem and quite an extraordinary place to go for dinner (or a scrumptious lunch) and it is an Instagram hotspot, as well, featuring a huge garden surrounded by rice paddy fields. There is a swimming pool, too (bring the kids!), and gazebos are placed on the lawn for a tropical and intimate dining setting. 6. Monsieur Spoon
Probably the most popular place for a traditional French ‘petit dejeuner’ – Monsieur spoon is located in Seminyak, Canggu and Ubud, but there is also one venue in Umalas. One thing is for sure: Monsieur Spoon has the best croissants on the island, but they also serve up delicious food for dinner!

Amazing French cuisine with a Mediterranean twist and friendly services, O La La Bali, will charm you out, and their menu will get you to go ‘Oh La La’ indeed! Eko Cafe Bali is a coffee and breakfast spot in Umalas. 11. Warung Sundari
Cheap, tasty, local and very casual with lots of big portions make Warung Sundari a hidden gem in the Tegal Cupak area of Umalas. The food is served pre-made in dishes, and you can choose what you want from the window display.
