There are 5 fully air-conditioned and modern bedrooms at Atas Ombak, three in the main building and two in the ocean pavilion close to the beach, where you can hear the sound of waves as you fall asleep – how dreamy!

The large main bedroom has a dressing area with a massive open-air ensuite bathroom for maximum privacy, a bathtub, and a private plunge pool for those romantic evenings. And it has commanding views over the ocean. So wake up and go for an early morning dip in the sea before returning to the villa for brekkie. All the other rooms have a calm, relaxed beachie vibe with views over the ocean, air conditioning, TVs, safes and, of course, your private ensuite bathrooms.

Swimming pool

The 14-metre oceanfront pool is breathtaking and is ideal for swimming laps taking your first morning dip, and provides a shallow section for children to play while you relax on the day beds and enjoy a few cocktails or cold Bintangs. In addition, the kids will enjoy the sprawling garden area and lotus ponds where they can burn off energy.

Living areas

The centrepiece of Villa Atas Ombak is the enormous open-sided, thatched living and entertainment pavilion where everyone gathers for sunset drinks or post-dinner chill-out sessions where your loved ones can enjoy the balmy tropical nights – how amazing! A large dining table for guests seats 10 people, where you can enjoy freshly cooked dinners from the in-house chef. For relaxed Netflix times, there’s a huge L-shaped couch with a TV where guests can curl up with a book or chat about their day’s activities around Seminyak.

Days Spas. There are many day spas nearby for the ladies where you can get your hair and nails done and have a wonderful Balinese massage. For the best treatments, head to the popular Rob Peetoom or Sundari Day Spa in Petitenget, Think Pink Nails in Batu Belig, JAMU in Berawa or JI VI in Seminyak’s popular Jalan Cendana opposite Seminyak Village.

Travelling with kids? Take them to the Finns Recreation Club (you get a complimentary membership) with waterslides, ten-pin bowling, tennis and a massive indoor trampoline centre. There are also surf lessons at Seminyak Beach, where you can hire boards and instructors by the hour. Atas Ombak is on the beach, so they’ll be entertained for hours playing in the ocean and swimming in the pool. Culturally take them to Tanah Lot Temple for sunset photos or a fun day out with the family; the Monkey Forest Temple in Ubud (your villa manager will organise transport and guide). There are the best ribs at Naughty Nuri’s in Kerobokan or Wild Hog nearby, or Indonesian at the famous Mades Warung in Seminyak central for dinner.

Beach Clubs. Staying at Atas Ombak means being surrounded by most of Bali’s famous beach clubs. Make sure you visit the popular Cafe Del Mar, which is a 10-minute walk away or the iconic Ku De Ta or Potato Head, where you can listen to chilled music and enjoy a few sunset cocktails. Other beach clubs nearby worth visiting include the new mega Atlas Beach Fest in Berawa, La Brisa on Echo Beach, The WooBar or Mano Beach House in Seminyak.

Cafes and restaurants. There are loads of cafes and restaurants nearby where you can also take the kids for a bite to eat. Head to the very popular Sisterfields (family-friendly) in Seminyak, Milk and Madu in Berawa (they have a kiddies playground), Milu by Nook, Watercress, Butterman (for tasty croissants and pastries), Pison, Sea Circus and the fantastic Revolver on Eat Street.

Shopping. You can shop till you drop, as Seminyak is the shopping heart of Bali. Make your way to Seminyak Village or Square, where there are many boutiques, homewares, jewellery and fashion shops. Head towards Legian, where you can have fun bargaining with locals for souvenirs. There’s the massive Beachwalk in Kuta, Bali Galleria and Lippo or Discovery Shopping Mall for more shopping. You can also visit Canggu’s popular Batu Bolong area and discover a range of upscale shops and boutiques. Along the way, there are many places to cool off, refuel, and enjoy lunch at the many cafes and restaurants.

Fancy Partying? Start the night at Cafe Del Mar, 707 Beach Bern on Batu Belig Beach or The Champagne Bar on Eat Street for pre-dinner drinks; then it’s off to Motel Mexicola for tacos and tequila. Continue the party at Shi Shi or La Favela, where you can dance till dawn.
