See if you can resist the temptation. It’s going to be really hard. I bet you’ll have your phone out snapping away within seconds.
1. Cafe Bali
In the heart of Seminyak, probably very close to your Seminyak holiday villa, the little facade opens up to a real wow factor. Its got a real homely feel to it without being too kitsch or over the top. Whitewood meets an eclectic mix of furniture – this makes for a great Instagram pic. Imagine being in a place like this in the middle of Bali. It’s an odd feeling walking in here but as soon as this settles you; will be snapping away.
Visit: Cafe Bali, Jalan Laksmana (Kayu Aya Seminyak. Ph +62 361 736484
2. Potato Head Beach Club
If you haven’t heard about Potato Head then I’m here to tell you that this is one of the tourist hot spots in Bali. It’s a mega venue, right on the beach and attracts tourists like moths to a flame. Expect queues, pricey drinks and meals and to be confronted by the uber-cool, hip tourists. Worth it…YES! It’s a must-see destination and to miss out on this would be a real pity.
This place rocks and is right on the beach as well. You can spend the whole day here if you like and continue to party on into the small hours of the morning. Make sure you bring your credit card and cash as this place is not cheap…oh but so worth it.
Visit Potato Head, Jl. Petitenget No.51B, Seminyak. Ph +62 361 4737979
Want to feel like you are back home but in Bali; kind of weird isn’t it? This cafe will make you feel like you are launching or dining back in Sydney, Melb or Brissy. It’s got very contemporary overtones with a bright airy feel and an amazing menu jam-packed with healthy salads, burgers, pizzas, juices and of course the must-have smashed avocado. It’s relatively new, but each time we go there, you have to give it about 30 minutes to get a table. It’s seriously popular for ex-pats and tourists staying in the Seminyak area.
Great smoothies, salads and burgers are just the beginning – well worth a visit and a selfie on Instagram.
Visit: Sisterfields, Jl. Kayu Cendana No.7, Seminyak. Ph +62 811-3860-507
4. La Plancha
You are going to be Instagramming till your fingers hurt. Right on the beach in Legian, you can chill out, watch the magical sunset and drink till the evening kicks in. Settle in grab a Bintang, relax and let the whole vibe of Bali kick in….great for friends just hanging out and very reasonably priced as well. Get in early as you want a front-row seat on the beach!
It serves Spanish style food and they seem to have the formula right, by the number of people that pile onto the bean bags. It’s a bit hard to find, but ask any taxi driver and they will be happy to take you there. If you are walking follow the BBQ smell, you can’t miss it.
Visit: La Plancha, Jalan Mesari Beach, Seminyak. Ph +62 878-6141-6310
5. Motel Mexicola
How do these people think of these themed restaurants? They must have a seriously good imagination because this place in Bali looks really odd and out of place. I think you are going to need a few shots of Tequila for this one. It’s in Seminyak so I guess it’s to be expected. All I can say is go on and enjoy yourself – the food, the drinks and the decor make for a BIG NIGHT OUT – bring the Berocca!
At night it lights up the whole area. It’s a place you somehow keep on coming back to time and time again.
Visit MotelMexicola, Jl. Kayu Jati No.9X, Kerobokan. Ph +62 361 736688
6. The Bistrot
A New York loft-style restaurant selling French food – you go figure….but it has made it into the Instagram list because of its creative decor. Vintage furniture, with exposed brick give this place a warm yet industrial feel it. Kind of cosy and homely with impressive, grand chandeliers. You will have your phone out within minutes telling your followers on Instagram about this place. Oh yes….don’t forget there is a bar upstairs for a pre-dinner drink.
Visit The Bistrot, Jl. Kayu Aya No.117, Seminyak. Ph +62 361 738308
7. Single Fin Uluwatu
I cannot write too much about Single Fin except to say that if you go to Bali without dropping in for a lunch and Bintang then you are seriously missing out. If there is 1 place to visit in Bali then this is it. If you are staying in Seminyak, grab a taxi, should be around Rp300 000 or $30. Well worth the fare. If you are into partying then go here Sunday night. It gets crowded with local surfers visiting from around the world who stay in the Bukit / Uluwatu area. You will need a full day here so make sure you take this into account. NEVER and I repeat NEVER miss the sunset here – it is world famous. Instagram factor = 10 out of 10!!
Visit Single Fin, Uluwatu, Pantai Suluban, Jl. Labuansait, Pecatu. Ph +62 361 769941
8. La Favela
It’s tucked away, but well worth the find. Nestled between a local surf shop and another restaurant, you can only make out this place by a small neon sign. The place looks like an old historic building in the rain forests of Brazil that time forgot – antiques everywhere including a clapped out VW – plants are everywhere and they look to be taking over the place. Again, quite typical for a themed cafe/ restaurant in the Oberoi, Seminyak areas. What will they think of next? It’s in the list because it looks that out of place that it’s very Instagram worthy.
Visit La Favela, Jalan Laksamana Oboroi No.177X, Seminyak. Ph +62 818-0210-0010
9. Ku De Ta
Read Potato Head above and you have Ku De Ta – not much to say, except that this is an institution in Bali and basically everyone who comes to Bali has been there. Yes, its: pricey and I do mean pricey and only for the very cool, but for the Instagram factor, it also rates very very high. Worth a visit for sunset cocktails and a few photos. Dinner is a treat but will be as expensive as Australian restaurants if not more. It has a pool so come with your mates, spend the day here and go berserk with your Instagram snaps.
Visit KU DE TA, Jl. Kayu Aya No.9, Seminyak. Ph +62 361 736969
10. Parachute Canggu
Care for rice field views? Parachute is a lofty open-air cafe set amid lush emerald rice paddies in Berawa. Once you arrive, there is no question as to why this place is called parachute: the place kind of sits underneath a huge parachute which is a stunning sight and truly unique in the Canggu cafe scene. The rice field views are magnificent, there are lots of comfortable sofas to chill out on and the food and drinks are delicious, made with local organic produce. There’s a huge play area for kids and Parachute also boasts its own on-site organic garden. Not to forget, this cafe is superly duper Instagrammable. Go see for yourself…

11. Panama Kitchen & Pool Canggu
Looking for a pool away from your Bali holiday home pool? A place to have lunch, swim and chill out in the sunshine? Do check out Panama Kitchen and Pool on Jalan Pantai Berawa in Canggu. Colourful and cheerful with more than a notch of art deco bliss, Panama Kitchen and Pool draws inspiration from tropical designs and retro 60ties cultures. It’s a unique find in Canggu with some awesome Instagrammable sitting spots in da house. On the menu, you’ll find comfort food such as burgers, tacos, sandwiches, shakes and amazingly good frozen margaritas.

12. Kynd Community Seminyak
One of the best cafes for food photography and hipster photoshoots, Kynd Community is always busy, located on the Petitenget Strip in Seminyak and it is a 100% plant-based cafe. The magic trick? Perhaps its the wall art, the marshmallow-sweet colours of the interior design, the attractive smoothie bowls, the latte art or the extremely yummy ‘Love Mugs’ that come in all flavours and colours… What’s going to be your favourite?
Visit Kynd Community, Jalan Petitenget No.12 Kerobokan Kelod, Seminyak. Ph +62 859-3112-0209
13. Sea Circus Seminyak
Even from the outside, this Seminyak Cafe attracts your attention with the coolest street art in bright colours. Instagrammers from all over the globe adore this place that calls itself a cocktail bar, coffee den and restaurant all at once. Great coffee, cocktails, waffles, pancakes, smoothie bowls, tapas yep, even the food is totally Insta-worthy! The location?
