1) Cafe Bali, a very cute place

In the heart of Seminyak, probably very close to your Seminyak holiday villa, the little facade opens up to a real wow factor. Its got a real homely feel to it without being too kitch or over the top. White wood meets an eclectic mix of furniture – this makes for a great Instagram pic. Imagine being in a place like this in the middle of Bali. It’s an odd feeling walking in here but as soon as this settles you.will be snapping away.

2) Potato Head Beach Club – the huge mega cafe, restaurant + bar

If you haven’t heard about Potato Head then I’m here to tell you that this is one of the tourist hot spots in Bali. It’s a mega venue, right on the beach and attracts tourist like moths to a flame. Expect queues, pricey drinks and meals and to be confronted by the uber cool, hip tourists. Worth it…YES!  It’s a must see destination and to miss out on this would be a real pity.

This place rocks and is right on the beach as well. You can spend the whole day here if you like and continue to party on into the small hours of the morning. Make sure you bring your credit card and cash!

See what I mean – it’s crowded a with a very big party vibe.

3) Tucked away cafe: Sisterfields

Want to feel like you are back home but in Bali; kind of weird isn’t it? This cafes will make you feel like you are lunching or dining back in Sydney, Melb or Brissy. It’s got very contemporary overtones with a bright airy feel and an amzing menu jam packed with healthy salads, burgers, pizzas, juices and of course the must have smashed avocado. It’s relatively new, but each time we go there, you have to give it about 30 minutes to get a table. It’s seriously popular with the for expats and tourists staying in the Seminyak area.

Great smoothies, salads and burgers are just the beginning – well worth a visit and a selfie on Instagram.

How modern does this look? Great for a lunchtime pit stop whilst shopping in along Jalan Kayu Aya or Eat St

4) La Plancha – right on the beach in Legian

You are going to be Instagraming till your fingers hurt. Right on the beach in Legian, you can chill out, watch the magical sunset and drink till the evening kicks in. Settle in grab a Bintang, relax and let the whole vibe of Bali kick in….great for friends just hanging out and very reasonably priced as well.  Get in early as you want a front row seat on the beach!

It serves Spanish style food and they seem to have the formula right, by the number of people that pile onto the bean bags. It’s a bit hard to find, but ask any taxi driver and they will be happy to take you there. If you are walking follow the BBQ smell, you can’t miss it.

See what I mean ( look above)  – its Instagram heaven!

5) Seminyak Junction: You are in the thick of all the action and chaos that makes Seminyak so popular

Buzzing motorcycles, street vendors, traffic jams, this is what makes Bali so special and an hour in the Seminyak Junction Cafe and you will get an idea of what I mean. Saying that, once you enter this place the noise kinds of dissipates. What you will find is a great menu, white washed wooden structure with minimal interiors. These cool, modern interiors tend to chill you out and you find yourself surrendering to it’s charm from the hot, humid Seminyak outdoors. I would get a table near the edge of the restaurant so you can get some great pics of the passing madness outside,

6) Motel Mexicola – this is where you will go Instagram mad!

How do these people think of these themed restaurants? They must have a seriously good imagination cause this place in Bali looks really odd and out of place. I think you are going to need a few shots of Tequila for this one. It’s in Seminyak so I guess it’s to be expected. All I can say is go on and enjoy yourself – the food, the drinks and the decor make for a BIG NIGHT OUT – bring the Berocca!

At night it lights up the whole area. It’s a place you somehow keep on coming back to time and time again.

7) La Petite Parisienne: The Bistrot

A New York loft style restaurant selling French food – you go figure….but it has made it into the Instagram list because of its creative decor. Vintage furniture, with exposed brick give this place a warn yet industrial feel to it. Kind of cosy and homely with impressive, grand chandeliers. You will have your phone out within minutes telling your followers on Instagram about this place. Oh yes….don’t forget there is a bar upstairs for a pre dinner drink.

8) Single Fin Uluwatu – you MUST go to this place

I cannot write too much about Single Fin except to say that if you go to Bali without dropping in for a lunch and Bintang then you are seriously missing out. If there is 1 place to visit in Bali then this is it. If you are staying in Seminyak, grab a taxi, should be around Rp300 000 or $30. Well worth the fare. If you are into partying then go here Sunday night. It gets crowded with local surfers visiting from around the world who stay in the Bukit / Uluwatu area. You will need a full day here so make sure you take this into account. NEVER and I repeat NEVER miss the sunset here – it is world famous. Instagram factor = 10 out of 10!!

Some people might say that watching the sun set is the same all over Bali, but Single Fin somehow has a very laid back and unpretentious feel about it – must be all the surfers and yoga people.

9) La Favela – how cool is this place?

It’s tucked away, but well worth the find. Nestled between a local surf shop and another restaurant, you can only make out this place by a small neon sign. The place looks like an old historic building in the rain forests of Brazil that time forgot – antiques everywhere including a clapped out VW  – plants are everywhere and they look to be taking over the place. Again, quite typical for a themed cafe/ restaurant in the Oberoi, Seminyak areas. What will they think of next? It’s in the list because it looks that out of place that its very Insragram worthy.

10) Ku De Ta: saving one of the best till last

Read Potato Head above and you have Ku De Ta – not much to say, except that this is an institution in Bali and basically everyone who comes to Bali has been there. Yes its: pricey and I do mean pricey and only for the very cool, but for the Instagram factor it also rates very very high. Worth a visit for sunset cocktails and a few photos. Dinner is a treat but will be as expensive as Australian restaurants if not more. It has a pool so come with your mates, spend the day here and go beserk with your Instagram snaps.
