Shelter Cafe is like a hidden little gem located right above Nalu Bowls in the centre of Seminyak. It’s a cool rooftop hang-out spot with indoor plants and an alang alang thatched roof. It’s a hip place with a tropical design. The food and coffee are great and so it’s always packed with people. Due to its big success, Shelter Cafe opened another location in Pererenan. It’s much bigger than the Seminyak location and there are frequent live music performances. The contemporary menu is inspired by Middle Eastern and Mediterranean cuisine.

La Brisa
La Brisa is the most Instagrammable beach club in Bali if you ask us! Sitting right on Echo Beach in Canggu, this place knows how to charm you out! La Brisa is not only an Instagram hot spot; it’s also a beach club that is sustainable and eco-friendly. There is a pool, there is the beach, there are breathtaking sunsets, and the food and drinks are of excellent quality.

Genius Cafe
Genius is located in Sanur – the lovely and charming beach town where you can go cycling along the coastline. While cycling, you will most probably Genius Cafe, sitting right on the beach with bean bags in the sand. The cafe is tucked in a stunning bamboo pavilion with a thatched roof. They have a no-plastic waste policy and the food is organic. A lovely place to sit and a great cafe to take some photos for your Insta-feed. Sundays at Genius are great for families!

Cafe Bali
The little facade opens up to a real wow factor in the heart of your Seminyak holiday villa, which is probably very close to your Seminyak holiday villa. It has a real homely feel without being too kitsch or over the top. Whitewood meets an eclectic mix of furniture – this makes for a great Instagram pic. Imagine being in a place like this in the middle of Bali. It’s an odd feeling walking in here, but as soon as this settles, you will be snapping away.

Potato Head Beach Club
If you haven’t heard about Potato Head, I’m here to tell you that this is one of the tourist hot spots in Bali. It’s a mega venue right on the beach and attracts tourists like moths to a flame. Expect queues, pricey drinks and meals, and to be confronted by the uber-cool, hip tourists. Worth it…YES! It’s a must-see destination; missing out on this would be a real pity.
This place rocks and is right on the beach as well. You can spend the whole day here if you like and continue to party into the small hours of the morning. Make sure you bring your credit card and cash as this place is not cheap, but so worth it.

Sisterfields
Want to feel like you are back home but in Bali? It’s kind of weird, isn’t it? This cafe will make you feel like you are launching or dining back in Sydney, Melb or Brissy. It’s got very contemporary overtones with a bright, airy feel and an amazing menu jam-packed with healthy salads, burgers, pizzas, juices and, of course, the must-have smashed avocado. It’s relatively new, but you must give it about 30 minutes to get a table each time we go there. It’s seriously popular for ex-pats and tourists staying in the Seminyak area.
Great smoothies, salads, and burgers are just the beginning. It is well worth a visit and a selfie on Instagram.
La Plancha
You are going to be Instagramming till your fingers hurt. Right on the beach in Legian, you can chill out, watch the magical sunset and drink till the evening kicks in. Settle in, grab a Bintang, relax and let the whole vibe of Bali kick in….great for friends just hanging out and very reasonably priced as well. Get in early, as you want a front-row seat on the beach!
It serves Spanish-style food, and they seem to have the formula right, according to the number of people who pile onto the bean bags. It’s a bit hard to find, but ask any taxi driver, who will happily take you there. If you are walking, follow the BBQ smell; you can’t miss it.
Visit: La Plancha, Jalan Mesari Beach, Seminyak. Ph +62 878-6141-6310
Motel Mexicola
What do these people think of these themed restaurants? They must have an excellent imagination because this place in Bali looks really odd and out of place. I think you are going to need a few shots of Tequila for this one. It’s in Seminyak, so I guess it’s to be expected. All I can say is go on and enjoy yourself – the food, the drinks, and the decor make for a BIG NIGHT OUT – bring the Berocca!

At night it lights up the whole area. It’s a place you keep coming back to time and time again.

Single Fin Uluwatu
I cannot write too much about Single Fin except to say that if you go to Bali without dropping in for lunch and Bintang, then you are seriously missing out. If there is 1 place to visit in Bali, then this is it. If you are staying in Seminyak, grab a taxi, it should be around Rp300 000 or $30. Well worth the fare. If you are into partying, then go here Sunday night. It gets crowded with local surfers visiting from around the world who stay in the Bukit / Uluwatu area. You will need a full day here, so make sure you take this into account. NEVER and I repeat NEVER, miss the sunset here – it is world-famous. Instagram factor = 10 out of 10!!
Visit Single Fin, Uluwatu, Pantai Suluban, Jl. Labuansait, Pecatu. Ph +62 361 769941
La Favela
It’s tucked away but well worth the find. Nestled between a local surf shop and another restaurant, you can only make out this place by a small neon sign. The place looks like an old historic building in the rain forests of Brazil that time forgot – antiques everywhere, including a clapped-out VW – plants are everywhere, and they look to be taking over the place. Again, quite typical for a themed cafe/ restaurant in the Oberoi, Seminyak areas. What will they think of next? It’s on the list because it looks so out of place that it’s very Instagram-worthy.
Visit La Favela, Jalan Laksamana Oboroi No.177X, Seminyak. Ph +62 818-0210-0010
Ku De Ta
Read Potato Head above, and you have Ku De Ta – not much to say, except that this is an institution in Bali, and basically everyone who comes to Bali has been there. Yes, it: ‘s pricey, and I mean pricey and only for the very cool, but for the Instagram factor, it also rates very high. Worth a visit for sunset cocktails and a few photos. Dinner is a treat but will be as expensive as Australian restaurants, if not more. It has a pool, so come with your mates, spend the day here, and berserk with your Instagram snaps.
Visit KU DE TA, Jl. Kayu Aya No.9, Seminyak. Ph +62 361 736969

Kynd Community Seminyak
One of the best cafes for food photography and hipster photoshoots, Kynd Community, is always busy; It is located on the Petitenget Strip in Seminyak, and it is a 100% plant-based cafe. The magic trick? Perhaps it’s the wall art, the marshmallow-sweet colours of the interior design, the attractive smoothie bowls, the latte art or the extremely yummy ‘Love Mugs’ that come in all flavours and colours… What’s going to be your favourite?

Sea Circus Seminyak
