Mama San has fast become one of the most popular restaurants in Seminyak, Bali and the reason for this is the food is just so good.
Let’s start with the handy location. It’s right at the end of Sunset Road which means that it’s at the beginning of Eat Street ( Jalan Kayu Aya ) so getting there is not a problem especially if you’re renting a Seminyak villa.
The food is modern Asian cuisine and is a delight for most foodies who seem to flock here most nights for dinner with the family. The decor will take you back to the 1920s in Shanghai with a very relaxed unpretentious environment. We had dinner here and loved the: crispy salmon with green mango and the stir-fried prawn with spur chilli black pepper. Prices are not too bad either with most dishes coming in at about $15-$20 which is a great value considering that this is one of the hottest restaurants in Bali right now. Next time we are there we will definitely try the Dim Sum dumplings in the upstairs bar area. This is the more chilled out area where you can also have a cocktail and enjoy the buzzy ambience that is Mama San.
We advise you to book a couple of days in advance and if you’re coming with kids and you want a great table and avoid the late-night buzz of the adults, best go for the 6 pm seating.
