Where to find Bikram Yoga classes in Seminyak Bali

Bikram yoga is a type of yoga that is practised for 90 minutes in 1 session in roughly 38-40 degrees. It’s a tough yet rewarding yoga where you are really tested to your limits.

Those that make it through the class ( survive it),  have a real sense of achievement. It works your entire body, especially improving your core muscle strength. It burns fat fast, gives you a high-performance intense workout and is like a military boot camp. It’s hard, but remember what they say; no pain no gain.

For those of you that have tried Bikram yoga and want to keep doing it on holiday, there are a few Bikram yoga studios in Seminyak Bali. For most people, it’s less than a 5-10 minute taxi ride at the most.

I know you might think it’s crazy doing a Bikram class in the heat but somehow when you are in Bali, it just adds to the experience. Yes, you do come out of the class feeling absolutely smashed ( like you feel when you have done a Bikram class back home), but the class I went to in Seminyak had fresh coconut juice, served right after the class.

The feeling that you had for the rest of the day is magical. You are fully stretched, have released all those toxins and are recharged. This is the perfect way to spend 90 minutes in the late afternoon. Sure you can do all the touristy things during the day, but what better way to end the afternoon than a meditation, strenuous Bikram yoga session. It will leave you to feel absolutely fantastic.

Most tourists holidaying in Bali will be staying in Seminyak and the closest Bikram to you is the Jiwa Bikram class in 78 Jalan Petitenget, Kerobokan Kelod, Bali, Indonesia.

Prices for a single class are Rp 180 000 which is roughly $20 Aussie. See the price list here.

This is a great value considering the effects you will feel afterwards. If you are staying in one of our villas, just get a taxi ride there and back and after you can chill out at many of the local cafes nearby. You can also hang at Jiwa after the class and have a few coconut waters after the class – they have a nice little chill-out area where you can mingle with the other yogis and go over what you have just been through.

There is also another Bikram yoga studio in the Kuta area. This is also a very touristy area and is ideally located at Istana Kuta Galeria Blok 7-8 (Nestetique Spa), Central Parking, Kuta, Bali.

If you want to try something completely different and add to your whole Bali experience, that is, find your inner peace and zen then nothing is going to beat the feeling you get say 1 hour after your first class.

You are either going to love or hate it but for the experience, it is worth trying. The crew and teachers at Jiwa yoga are really friendly, and if you tell them this is your first Bikram class then will go easy on you. If you are a regular like me then, you want to keep your practice up – what better way than in Bali!

One really important thing to note is that if you plan on doing a Bikram class in Bali, you need to drink lots of water beforehand and stay well hydrated after the class. The heat somehow stays in your body for a few hours after the class finishes so the best thing to do is find a chilled out place to absorb what you have just put your body through. Believe me, when I tell you, you are going to love it.

Also, take very light clothing to Bikram. Guys can wear board shorts and girls can wear shorts and a sports top if they like. It’s hot in there and the less you have on the better. Also, bring a towel with you to all classes. There is parking outside the front of the studio so if you’re coming by scooter you can park it there.
